When buying brushes, it depends on us how long they will be usable. One thing is for sure, if properly cared for, they will last for a long time. How to properly wash and care for Ibra Makeup brushes

Washing brushes

The method of washing brushes and the products used for this purpose depends on whether you use brushes with natural or synthetic bristles. Natural bristles require special care. For washing, use very delicate products that do not dry out the bristles and allow them to maintain their elasticity. Otherwise, the bristles will crumble or fall out.

We wash brushes under running, warm (but not hot) water. First, we moisten them with water only, holding the brush with the bristles facing down. We cannot allow water to get into the handle, because it will delaminate the glue and after some time the hairs will start to fall out of the brush, or the ferrule will fall off. Then we apply a washing gel to the bristles and gently massage them with sliding movements, without crushing the brush - as if we were painting a picture. Then we repeat the same movements, until there is no dirt or liquid on it. Then we rinse with a large amount of water, also with the bristles facing down.

Drying brushes

Brushes after washing should be dried with a paper towel to remove excess water, put covers on the brushes and leave to dry. Remember not to dry the brushes with the bristles facing up. Water can then flow into the handle and unglue it or, worse, cause it to rot. You should also not dry the brushes on a radiator or in a dryer. This can destroy the bristles.

Maintaining hair shape

In order for the brushes to maintain their original shape for as long as possible, after washing we can use special nets/covers. After squeezing out excess water, we put a suitably selected cover on the wet brush. We can lay the brush down or place it vertically, e.g. in a glass and leave it to dry.

What not to do with brushes:

  • dry with a dryer,
  • dry on a radiator,
  • jerk,
  • soak them whole in water,
  • dry with the bristles facing up or horizontally - otherwise the water may unglue the brush,
  • clean the bristles in circular motions - they may become deformed,
  • rinse with hot water - it destroys and dries the hair,
  • bend the hair,
  • store in the bathroom - steam and high temperature may cause the glue to release.

How to care for your brushes:

  • dry at room temperature,
  • rinse with lukewarm water,
  • dry with the handle up - this is an option for those who have brush covers - otherwise, dry horizontally so that the bristles lie on the countertop,
  • foundation, concealer and eyeliner brushes should be washed every day - otherwise, you are putting not only cosmetics on your face, but also sebum, dust and dirt,
  • It is best to store it in a closed tube, cosmetic bag or drawer - then the brushes do not catch as much dust.
